Delhi Government is still working on online platform for digital birth registrations. Till the time it completes, you will have to go through conventional old school methods of birth certificate registration. There is lot to be said in entire registration process (mainly the ways). How to apply for Birth Registration in Delhi

In Delhi, you can register the birth details with either of these 3 bodies: MCD, NDMC, Delhi Cantonment Board. Below is how to do it:
  • Visit the respective registration body's office near to your area
  • Office timings are from 9.30 AM to 6 PM evening
  • Get the application form and fill in all the columns
  • Attach required proofs and do submit the appropriate affidavits
  • Once done, submit the application form and collect the acknowledgment slip

What documents are required for birth registration in Delhi

You will need below set of documents (attested photocopies):
  • Birth proof with time and place of birth (affidavit will work as well)
  • Ration Card copy
  • School leaving certificate showing the date of birth (if applicable)
These documents need to be attested with some Government authorized gazetted officer. Birth certificates are provided free of cost. However additional copies (duplicate ones) will cost around Rs. 10/-

Please proceed accordingly. After applying for birth certificate (after submitting your docs), you should receive next response within first 21 working days. In case not, then please head over to nearby registration office and let them know your concerns.

Once you submit your application with the department, a draft with your application is prepared and is sent to concerned police station for verification. In case you are applying on basis of school leaving certificate (that shows your birth details), then no such steps are required. You are straight forward issued the birth certificate.

Check Birth Certificate Status in Delhi

Again, you will have to go through offline procedures here as well. Please have the registration number handy with you. It will help you with status check for your application. As we mentioned above, ideally you should get response within 21 working days of the application. However in case you don't get one, then please do visit nearby registration office with your ack number details. You can inquire about status using your reference number there.
